The Walk to Emmaus
"While they were walking and talking, Jesus Himself came near ... "
"Did not our hearts burn within us ....... while He opened to us the scriptures?"
Luke 24:13-35
Chrysalis Team Canon
and
Team Covenant
(It's Not About Me!)
I am a member of a Chrysalis team; therefore I am only one part of a complete being.
I hereby covenant to surrender my "self" to the power of Christ
at work in me; to live my life as one with Christ; and to do so order my
life that the love of Christ will be visible to the other team members and participants.
I am an imperfect earthen vessel, and I am here in a servant's role.
I hereby covenant to follow the example of Christ and adopt a leadership style of servanthood and humility.
I will serve in humility and gratitude
for the opportunity to be here, and I will remember that the Holy Spirit calls for my love,
patience, kindness, gentleness, and self-control in all things.
I hereby covenant to pray daily for the members of the team, the community and the
participants, named and unnamed.
I will pray for submission to the Spirit during this weekend
and for strength and commitment to God's person during these three days.
I hereby covenant to be willing to listen and learn from my peers and from Christ.
I will remember that I am here only as an instrument through which God can work to renew the Church.
I hereby covenant to attend every team meeting except in emergeny situations.
I am here only by God's Grace; I am here only so that God might work through me, not because of me.
I hereby covenant to set aside the proper amount of time to prepare for my assignments and
responsibilities.
I will lift up other members of the team and caterpillars in prayer and ask our Lord to strengthen them and to be revealed to them
in a new and wondrous way.
I hereby covenant to be ever mindful that this event is not for me, but for the participants,
that my role is to serve and that my position is no more important
than any other.
I will not glorify myself;
I will not glorify any other member of this team, or allow another to glorify me.
I will use "I" as little as possible during these three days and will remember that
all others are the main reason for my presence and my prayers.
I will remember at all times that I am no more important than any other person on the weekend.
In all things, I will accept and be obedient to the authority and discipline under which I serve.
Whatever passions and excitement seize me, I will express through joyful praise to the Father, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
I will give God all the glory for anything and everything that occurs during this weekend.
I will raise my voice only in praise of God and will bow my head in reverence to God.
